Our Story

Welcome to Taste of the Caribbean LA, where the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean come to life in the heart of Hollywood. Our journey began with the culinary vision of Chef Bernard James, a Guyanese native who embarked on a gastronomic adventure in the streets of New York City. Chef Bernard's passion for Caribbean cuisine led him to open his first establishment, Corlette NY, a beloved eatery that quickly became a local gem.

Driven by a bigger dream and a desire to share the rich tapestry of Caribbean flavors with the west coast, Chef Bernard set his sights on Los Angeles. He started his culinary conquest with a humble food truck, serving up authentic Caribbean dishes influenced by major Jamaican, Trinidadian and other Caribbean Island dishes that captured the hearts and taste buds of Angelinos.

As the demand for his delectable creations soared, Chef Bernard's dream evolved, and Taste of the Caribbean LA found its permanent home at 5920 Santa Monica Blvd. Here, you'll experience a delightful fusion of Caribbean culinary traditions, all expertly curated by Chef Bernard himself. From mouthwatering jerk chicken to succulent jerk salmon, including Curry Goat and mouth watering Red snapper, every dish is a celebration of the region's diverse and savory cuisine.
